1. Quick Start
First 3 steps after installation.
Launch
While typing, press the shortcut key to call the SnipIt window. It appears instantly at your mouse cursor.
Default Setting
Select
Select from history using Arrow keys ↑ ↓, or press number keys 1 to 9 for direct selection.
Paste
Press Enter key to automatically paste the selection into the
frontmost app.

Find anything, anywhere, instantly.
Deep & Cross-Folder Search
SnipIt doesn't just search titles. It scans the entire content of your
snippets.
It searches across all folders at once, so you don't need to remember where
you saved a snippet.
Launch & Focus
Press / or Cmd+F to focus the search bar immediately.
Type Keywords
Results appear instantly as you type (Incremental Search).
Select & Paste
Use ↑ ↓ to select from results, then Enter.

Auto Date/Time Input (Text Expander)
Embed specific codes in snippets to automatically convert them to the current date/time
when pasted.

5. Data Migration
Share data between Clipy and iPhone version.
IN Import
- Open Preferences from menu bar icon.
- Select Data from the sidebar.
- Click Import XML button.
- Select "Merge" or "Overwrite", then choose XML file.
OUT Export
- Open Preferences > Data.
- Click Export XML button.
- Choose destination and save.
- Send the created XML to iPhone via AirDrop etc. to import into SnipIt for iOS.
6. Settings & Customization
Adjust SnipIt to your liking.
General
- Launch at Login:
Set whether to launch SnipIt automatically on Mac startup. - Clipboard History:
Set number of items to keep (10 to Unlimited). Use "Clear All History" to delete everything. - File Handling:
If you copy a file in Finder, you can choose to save its "File Name" or "File Path" as text in history. - Rich Text Conversion:
Convert copied Rich Text (RTF) to Plain Text automatically. Useful for coding or removing unwanted formatting.
Shortcuts
Change the global shortcut to summon SnipIt.
Snippets (Management)
Register and edit snippets in a 3-pane management screen.
Intuitive Finder-like operation, perfect for organizing mass data.

FAQ
Q. Cannot Paste
Mac's "Accessibility Permission" is required for auto-pasting.
Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility
and turn ON the switch for SnipIt.
Q. Are images saved in history?
Yes, images are saved and previewed just like text.
However, very large images may not be saved to conserve memory.
Q. Can I use Clipy data?
Yes, you can import XML files exported from Clipy. Use import in "Data" settings.
Q. Supported OS?
macOS 13.0 (Ventura) and later. Works on both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) and Intel Macs.
